I thought this was excellent. I used bone in skin on breast, was cheaper then whole chicken. Chicken salad and fajitas with the leftovers

Ryan (the reviewer) reminds me a lot of myself. I will do hours and hours of research before buying something if that something will be used for a long period of time. After tons or research and before ever using a pellet grill, I decided to buy an entry level smoker to see if I even liked pellet grills. It happened to be a Broil King, which I chose because they are a very American company who actually does what they can to manufacture here while keeping their prices competitive. Pellet grills are an extremely competitive market so BK’s Pellet is made in China due to high demand of inferior throw away products that some people prefer nowadays. After five years and I’d say close to 1,000 cooks, the firepot stopped working. Without hesitation, I purchased the 480 from a local dealer.
It is the most amazing item that I have ever purchased! If Yoder would be able to differentiate their smoker from the Chinese competition by actually a side-by-side comparison (not just physical, but an actual demonstration) I feel they would win the sale EVERY time (budget permitting).
I will keep you posted on my journey between cooks. Thank you for creating this masterpiece and believing in American ingenuity, quality, and craftsmanship!

Comment on Cajun Brine Solution for Turkey by Stephen Bingham https://www.yodersmokers.com/2019/07/cajun-brine-solution-for-turkey/#comment-49277 Tue, 17 Jun 2025 06:51:57 +0000 https://www.artifeximperium.com/yoderupdate/?p=5198#comment-49277 Can I apply this method for smoking turkey legs? I’m also using Prague powder for curing purposes. I don’t want them to be too salty. I’m currently brining 39 jumbo turkey legs. It typically takes 15 gallons of brine to cover them all in my cooler overnight. Wanted to add a bit more flavor than what I’ve been having.

Set it to 350. It went to 375 then dropped to 335. The WSM smoker holds a temp WAY better and it about 1/100 of the price

Comment on Apple Wood Smoked Pork Tenderloins by Sam Andras https://www.yodersmokers.com/2023/08/apple-wood-smoked-pork-tenderloins/#comment-45474 Sun, 13 Apr 2025 16:30:38 +0000 https://www.yodersmokers.com/?p=56414#comment-45474 I used this approach and had amazing results. The tenderloin was super juicy and the flavor amazing.

My mods, I rubbed the tenderloin with olive oil then coated it with my own rub. I used a combination of soy sauce and apple cider vinegar, spraying the tenderloin once at 10 minutes.

WHY DO WE RUN THE FAN (ONLY), DURING COLD SMOKING CHEESE? DOESN’T THAT DISSIPATE THE SMOKE? TKS!

Comment on Why You Need A Pellet Smoker by Tate Trible https://www.yodersmokers.com/2024/01/why-you-need-a-pellet-smoker/#comment-44359 Thu, 20 Mar 2025 18:18:59 +0000 https://www.yodersmokers.com/?p=63265#comment-44359 In reply to Gene Huegin.

Our pellet grills do impart a nice, balanced smoke flavor. However a pellet grill will not achieve the same smoke profile as a charcoal grill or an offset wood pit.
